Miss M is 6!! An Interview

Miss M after losing her tooth on Oct. 11th.
In commemoration of Miss M having turned 6 on Wednesday (10/13), I interviewed her.  Thanks to The Domestic Buzz for the inspiration.  Here are the results.
  1. How old are you now? 6
  2. How does it feel to be 6? It feels good.
  3. What did you do yesterday on your birthday? We went to CiCi’s and we went to McDonald’s for lunch.
  4. Did you do anything special at school?  What I did at school was I met new friends and I love to play.  My teacher is really nice.  They sang happy birthday to me and to my friend, Carson, too!
  5. What do you think is the most important thing that you have learned so far?  The most important thing is how to plant a tree and how to listen on the rug (but I already know that).
  6. How do you think you have changed from last year? I hadn’t lost my tooth and I always wanted to but this year I have!
  7. What do you like most about yourself? I am a very good person and I like fancy stuff like glittery shoes, fancy flowers, sparkly glasses.
  8. What do you like learning about the most at school? I mostly like doing calendar and learning new letters and having art.
  9. Is there anything you would do to improve your educational experience?  What does that mean?
  10. What would you change at school?  Is that what it means?  I wish I could eat lunch there and have music there but probably when I am in first grade I will get to do that.  (She only goes to school in the morning).
  11. Describe your family. Mommy, Daddy, Baby C and me, Miss M!
  12. What do you like most about having a sister? I think she is very cute.  I like babies because she is a very, very best baby in the whole world.  She is just 1.
  13. Did we go on any vacations this year?  Last year we went to see Mumie in South Carolina.  We also went to MaGa’s but she was on vacation with Pop.  In St. Louis.  A while ago we stayed at a hotel where there was a submarine and you could go inside.  That was before Mama had Baby C and I was little.
  14. Favorite Books? Music? Movies? Favorite Music is We’re Going Out Tonight but that is on the computer and Justin Roberts.  My favorite book is Princess and the Pea, Barbie and Star Wars and My Little Pony.  My favorite movie is Blues Clues, and movies about puppies.
  15. Favorite TV Show?  Arthur and Fetch and Curious George.
  16. If you had an entire day to do whatever you wanted, what would you do? What I would do is play with my friend Roo and go to school and play with Barbies, Polly Pocket and play on the computer and eat lots of popcorn and donuts and macaroni and cheese and quesadillas.
  17. What do you want to be when you grow up? I haven’t decided, Mom, yet.  Because I might change my mind when I grow up.
  18. Do you think you will get married?  I don’t know.
  19. Anything else you would like to say?  I just love school. I am so happy that I am growing and that’s all.
  20. Is there anything I should have asked you but didn’t? Nope and that is so all.  Please go to the Queen of the Snot Princesses because there might be something there that you haven’t seen so go there quick!
Happy 6th Birthday Miss M!  We Love YOU!

Puppies are Puppy Power! by Miss M

I love puppies because they are so cute!  I love them when they are little because you get to hug them and kiss them.  I love them and they are so so so very cute.  I like to pet them and hug them and also, kiss the puppies!  I like ones that are stripes, polka dot or straight.  Or a pink puppy but I have never seen a pink puppy because that is silly! Ha! HA! HA!  Puppies are very cute.  I think brown ones are cute.  I like fancy collars.  Maybe when I get older, my mommy and daddy will let me get one.  I think a good name are Valentine or Emily.  I know that Baby C could pull the puppies hair so she has to get older so that I can get one.  The puppy power of puppies!  That is my favorite.  Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!  Because I think that puppies are the best.  That’s it.

An interesting conversation with a 5 1/2 year old

Yesterday, Miss M brought up the concept of bad brain.  She told me that she has a bad brain that resides in the middle of her forehead area.  She said that this bad brain gives her thoughts like “this is dumb” or “I don’t like you.”  She then went on to say that she has a good brain as well, which makes up the rest of her head.  This brain (the good one) makes sure she doesn’t actually say what the bad brain wants her to.  It stops her mouth from saying those “bad” things and instead replaces it with good things.

I thought this was an interesting take on the idea of good conscience and bad conscience.  We discussed this with Daddy last night at dinner and he told Miss M that his grandmother, the awesome Mumie, would always tell him as a little boy that he had a “bad man” on his back when he was misbehaving.  I told her as well that you could also look at her “bad brain” idea as being the devil and the “good brain” is God.  She didn’t totally agree with our added comments.  She simply said “It is just your brain, Mom!”

The Yes Family

Yesterday Miss M told me a dream that she had had the previous night.  Here’s our conversation:
Miss M: In my dream, we were the yes family.
Me:  What does that mean?
Miss M:  It means that every time the ice cream truck comes by, you would always say yes.
Me:  But do I always say yes to you?
Miss M:  No.  I guess we are really a No Family.  (said begrudgingly).  When I have a family, I am going to be a Yes Family.
Me:  We will see about that.

So….Are you a Yes Family or a No Family?

Accomplishments

So this past weekend, Miss M learned to ride a 2 wheel bike all by herself!  She tried it for the first time this Saturday and by Sunday she was going to the park with no problem!  I am so proud of her.  It took me a looooong time to learn to ride a bike and I had many accidents along the way.  One quite memorable and especially painful one was when I accidentally fell into the thorn bush that was in front of our church.  I was just learning to ride and was just starting to get the hang of balancing and then I fell.  Needless to say that pushed me back a bit in my desire to learn to ride.  To this day I am not one to really ride my bike that much.  I really hope M doesn’t have any bad falls like me or if she does she will have the tenacity to get back on and keep on riding.

What about Baby C, you ask?  Well, she learned to do peek a boo! all by herself!  She is fully on table food now and can literally eat us all under the table.  Not walking on her own yet but that will come.  She is a super fast crawler so that is all she needs right now.

Between M learning to ride and C learning to walk, my husband and my backs are definitely not what they used to be!

Star Light, Star Bright by Miss M

I love my baby sister. She is so cute! I love flowers. I love my sister more than a peony. She makes the sound like a quacking duck. She goes “ba ba.” She is the cutest baby in the whole world, even the universe.

I like cooking with Daddy. I also LOVE chocolate chips!
My favorite princess is Barbie and the Mermaid Tale. I also like the story of the Diamond Castle. The girls in that are called Alexa and Alana. My favorite, prettiest thing in the whole world is a heart in a middle of my hand.
My sister is good, I guess.
I love Barbie Girls dot com. You should go on the website too!
Here’s my poem:
Red and yellow
Pink and Blue
These are the colors that I love you
That’s it of our ruplay
That’s the end of our play
Hooray!

Miss M’s Recipes

Lately Miss M has taken to creating “recipes.”  She creates them by going into the cupboards and taking items out and writing down their names on a piece of paper.  Some creative creations have involved chocolate chips, eggs, maple syrup and hellmann’s mayonnaise.  Yum.  She is really showing some pre-reading skills and is loving to practice writing.  In fact, today she made Baby C an Alphabet book where in she wrote the letters of the alphabet on a sheet of paper that she had folded into a “book.”  It is so neat to see her develop these skills.  We are excited for the day when the wheels will click and she will be reading.  Once she does, watch out!
Here’s video that Miss M had me film of her today talking about one of her recipes.  It is a rough cut but you get the general idea.  So introducing the future cooking star…
